Who we help
Based at the Beacock Branch Library, the Library Settlement Program supports newcomers seeking information to help with their settlement needs. Program is open to all newcomers regardless of legal status in Canada.
Purpose
We provide immigrants and newcomers with information and referrals to help with successful integration into their new community.
Description
The Library Settlement Program is a drop-in service. Library Settlement Workers provide information and referrals on a one to one basis covering a wide range of topics such as: immigration, citizenship, housing, health care, education, employment, library services, volunteering opportunities and community services. In addition to one to one support, the program facilitates group sessions on pertinent and emerging issues that are relevant to newcomers.
The Library Settlement Program also provides support to clients that are preparing to become Canadian Citizens through Canadian Citizenship preparation classes.
