We hope you all had an awesome start to this school year! We had a wonderful end to our summer with our NOW program participants and leaders.
The NOW program stands for Newcomer Orientation Week. During this time selected peer leaders from schools from TVDSB and LDCSB help support and prepare newcomers to the high school system.
During these three days, newcomers were able to learn about high school expectations, how to use a lock, uniforms, and even Q&A from guidance. These photos are from LDCSB site. Selected peer leaders also receive three day training on how to prepare and support newcomers to Canada.
We're so excited to be able to be part of this and connect with students not only to our services as SWIS workers, but also to other students and peers that they can relate to as well.
